Reports!!! The best part of the Fleet Management system.

Do your drivers manually log their start and end times for every stop?   Do they manually record their start and end times for their day, and do you calculate their hours worked from these times?   How about the logging of mileage?  A better question may be, are your driver’s supposed to log their times for every stop and are they supposed to record their times for their work day and total mileage?

I know getting everyone to record their times accurately and regularly can be frustrating and tedious.  You’re trying to build your business, last thing you want to be doing is running employees down to verify records.  What if you had a system in place that would do this for you?  Imagine how convenient it would be if every two weeks you or someone in your staff received an email showing the start and end times for every driver’s workday.  Or if you could review the start and end times of every job from the previous day, would this make payroll and billing easier and more accurate?

A Fleet Management system coupled with GPS Vehicle Tracking will provide all of these things and more, you are able to review everything thing from activities, over speed, unauthorized use, to mileage by both total and by state.  These reports can be viewed as needed or emailed on a schedule established by you.  Do you have drivers on a job site for multiple days?  A geofence can be set up around that location so that you can get a tailored report showing exactly when they arrived and how long they stayed at that job site.  Don’t worry about proving time on a job again, let our system handle that for you!

Why should you use Vehicle Tracking?

I know I know… you’ve been running your business for years and you’ve seen it all, you’ve heard it all.  Why would you need something to tell you where your drivers are, or where they’ve been?

Man, we really get lulled into a false sense of control.  You have good employees, they don’t mean to take advantage of our good graces, but you have employees that tend to put themselves before the betterment of the company.  A driver takes the long way to an appointment to pad the overtime, or uses the van on the weekend to run personal errands.  Now you may not have an issue with this at first, but you may if that employee begins to take advantage of your good natured gift.  And that’s what it has been, a gift.  You pay for the fuel, you pay to maintain that vehicle and insure that vehicle and those costs really add up… you own that vehicle.  If something happens you will pay to defend your company and the decisions made by that employee.

Vehicle tracking allows you to maintain oversight of the decisions your employees make and the direct expense relative to those decisions. You’re not the proverbial “big brother” you’re the person who owns that vehicle, you have a right to know where it’s been, what it has done, and how it got where it’s located.

Above and beyond the oversight, the fleet management software provided with the Navman Wireless System, being sold by Driver Watch Systems, is like hiring another employee for a small monthly fee. This new employee comes to work every day on time, this new employee will email you every time a driver decides to idle too long, this employee will automatically email your driver’s time sheets to you on your schedule. This employee will tell you exactly how long a job took or why it took 45 minutes to drive 10 miles. You can invoice based off of the times provided by this system.

You use vehicle tracking because you want to save money, you use vehicle tracking because you want to grow your business, you use vehicle tracking because you want to continue to provide your employees with the best place to work and a safe and honest business to work for.  You use vehicle tracking because it makes cents!  Let us show you more, contact us here.

Cost of a Single Accident

Traffic accidents happen every day, everywhere in the world. It has become a fact of life, just turn on any radio station in America during normal commuting hours and you can hear all about them. Head on, rear end, T-bone, side swipe, we see them all the time. We all just hope and pray that we are not ever involved in an accident. Forget the danger involved and the threat of injury, just the headache alone of dealing with insurance carriers, rental vehicles, repair and body shops, the possibility of being sued even if you’re not at fault! They are a nightmare!!!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that a single accident in the US costs an average of $14060; this is from a study in 2000 (http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/809446.PDF) so corrected for inflation and keeping all other factors the same that brings the total to $17,325! The factors are things like lost market productivity, property damage, medical care and emergency services, travel delays, legal and court cost and insurance administration and we all know they have not remained the same they have gone up exponentially.  Imagine having to cover that total in today’s business climate, not something you want to think about I’m sure. Basic fleet management suggests that taking steps that will minimize your exposure to these accidents and incidents are a major priority.

Our Driver Observation Reporting System helps your fleet managers determine who your professional drivers are and who should receive further education on operating a vehicle safely or at worst case be removed from behind the wheel. These reports allow the driver’s supervisor see problems as they are developing instead of after they have occurred. Removing a driver from the field after the $17,000 expense is too late, removing or reeducating that driver prior to the $17,000 expense is key! Allow Driver Watch Systems help you accomplish this today, contact us here.

Very Exciting!

Welcome to the first blog entry for Driver Watch Systems, we are very excited about our new site and blog.

Our company’s primary job is to help others reduce costs and increase safety. We do this through the implementation and use of GPS Tracking, Fleet Management and Driver Observation Reporting.

Secondarily, we look forward to bringing you a fun and informative blog that will provide you with resources to promote safety and save money as well as a place to share your thoughts and experiences in transportation and fleet management.

We live in an economic climate that has people asking “what’s next?” and we are afraid of what the answer may be! But good signs have been reported, there are positive numbers showing up in the financial sections of the papers across our country. Negative numbers are still around but those who are in the know think the bottom has been found. Small businesses will begin to see the benefits from the changes and cuts that have been made. If you ever thought about implementing a new system to help streamline your operation now is the time! The implementation of new systems while things are slow gives you and your employees time to adjust to the learning curve. This way, when things are back to normal and we once again are in an economy that shows signs of growth, you are ahead of the curve and not behind it wondering how to catch up!
