Fleet Tracking = Saving Money.

Jaris Transportation ROI

Payroll Costs

  • Since children are picked up in the early morning, vans are kept at the drivers’ homes.  Though it was easy to verify pick-up and drop-off times through parents or the schools, drivers could inaccurately report the times they left and returned home.
  • Jaris now uses Navman GPS tracking to determine start/stop times versus handwritten time sheets.  The company has reduced payroll costs by almost an hour per day per vehicle.
  • There are 2 people on each vehicle: a driver who makes $14 per hour and an aide who makes $8 hour- for a savings of $22 per day, or $110 per week for each of their 35 vehicles.

Fuel Costs

  • Since employees retain the vehicles at home, unauthorized personal use was also an issue.  Drivers are required NOT to use the vehicles from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as after-hours.
  • By placing Geofences around each driver’s home, Jaris is alerted whenever the vehicle arrives or leaves.  Activity Reports allow the company to closely monitor usage.  Unauthorized use quickly came to a halt.
  • By curbing misuse of vehicles, Jaris has realized a savings of $7,000 per month in fuel savings alone- and average of $200 per vehicle.  This doesn’t even take into account the potential legal liability in the event of an accident.

Additional Benefits

  • With Navman’s Overspeed Report, Jaris knows right away when a driver is exceeding the speed limits.
  • GPS navigation enables Jaris to route drivers to their destination without having them on the route.  Directions to any location are at a driver’s fingertips instantly.
  • Activity Reports enable the company to verify when a child was picked up or dropped off.
  • In the event of a breakdown, Jaris uses GPS tracking and Navman’s messaging capabilities to dispatch the nearest bus to the exact location, maximizing service to the children and the school district.

Sprintshift Saves Money!

We love to hear examples of companies saving time and money through the use of GPS vehicle tracking.  So when we hear these examples we pass them along to you.

Here is yet another success story of a company using a Navman Wireless system:

Courier and haulage specialist Sprintshift has dramatically reduced overtime and increased backloads after introducing vehicle tracking to its vehicle fleet.

Before employing the use of the technology, Sprintshift, which has a fleet of more than 25 vehicles, used a time-sheet-based administration system for processing overtime and driver hours.

However, a vehicle tracking system has enabled it to reduce time-sheet errors and false entries, time wastage between routes and increase fleet optimization.

Justin Hayes, Sprintshift transport manager, said: “Our drivers finish their working days at different times and some will often not return to the office until 6.30pm, when all office-based staff have gone.

“Consequently, they can claim to have finished at 7.30pm and gain an extra hour.

“Now I can check these times against vehicles movements.

“We can also monitor their vehicles’ movements for the entire working day and can see if they have parked up for longer than they should.

“If drivers haven’t got valid reasons for stopping for protracted periods of time, we then cut costs by deducting this from their wages.”

The tracking system has been provided by Navman Wireless.
